How do I arrange Power of Attorney over my accounts?

To arrange Power of Attorney on your accounts you will need to take the original copy of the full Power of Attorney document, or a copy certified as a true copy by a solicitor, stockbroker, notary or the donor/grantor to a branch and complete an Add Power Of Attorney form.

If you want someone to look after your affairs for a long period of time, are ill, or think you might develop an illness which might prevent you from making decisions for yourself at some time in the future, you can grant a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA). This will enable your attorney to operate your accounts and look after all your financial affairs.

If all you need is for someone to be able, temporarily, to operate a bank account for you, you can just ask a branch for a form called a third party mandate.
