If the sort code doesn’t match the bank you were expecting, you’re at high risk of falling victim to a scam.
Criminals convincingly impersonate the bank and ask you to transfer money for “security” reasons. If this happens, you can be confident it’s a scam and even if this is being sent to one of our accounts, or another well-known bank, it is still difficult to recover the money. Don’t make the payment and end contact with that individual.
