• Like all financial institutions we have to ensure that our customers pass Know Your Client (KYC) checks. This is not a credit check, and applying for a NatWest Rooster Card will not affect your credit score. We will check your identity and address, and if we are unable to confirm either, then we will reach out to you to obtain proof of identity such as a Passport, or proof of address such as a bank statement.

• You can pay into your account in three ways, either from card top ups directly in the NatWest Rooster Money app, by bank transfer from your bank account of choice or Top Up through the Ulster Bank App.
• For a card top up go to your dashboard, tap on the plus sign located on the right-hand side of the Parent Account icon. From there, you will see an option titled, "Card Top-Up".
• To do so by bank transfer, from your dashboard, tap on the “+” next to your Parent Account icon, from here tap on “Bank Transfer” to view your Rooster Money Parent Account name, sort code, and account number.
• To Top up through the Ulster Top Up experience, you must first have linked your Ulster Bank and Rooster Money account together. In doing so you will have a Rooster Money tile on your Ulster Bank App Homepage. Select the Rooster Money tile and tap ‘Top-Up’ and complete the simplified payment journey to top up either the parent account or a child card. 

• Sign up to NatWest Rooster Money and download the app. Make sure you have the latest version of the app which you can get or update from the app store.
• You’ll need to give your full legal name, your date of birth, nationality, address and email. You’ll also need to give the first name, date of birth and gender of each child you add to Rooster Money.
• Once your children are set up, you can follow the steps in the app to start a free Rooster Card 30-day trial and connect your Ulster Bank account to receive our receive the free offer for as long as you’re an Ulster Bank customer.

Yes, you can use your NatWest Rooster Money debit card when you’re on holiday.

With your Rooster Card subscription (free for NatWest customers), you can spend up to £50 in foreign currencies per month while overseas without any extra fees from us. Over £50, we’ll charge you 3% of the transaction amount. Please note that some foreign ATMs may charge their own fees on top of this.

Parents or guardians will first need to make sure that the spending abroad option is turned on in the Rooster app card settings. You can do this by following these steps:

• From the Family Dashboard, select "Card" underneath your child's profile.
• Select "Card Settings".
• Toggle on/off "Spending abroad (in-person)".
