What support is available online?

How to make the most of your account

We want to make your mortgage as easy to manage as possible. Your mortgage account lets you tailor your borrowing to your requirements by tweaking repayment dates or setting up a regular Direct Debit. And, if you’re struggling with your payments, you may be eligible for support.

Set up a regular payment

You may have cancelled your Direct Debit in the past and life can be busy – it’s easy to lose track of what needs paying when. Setting up a Direct Debit is the easiest way to stay on top of your mortgage payments. You can do this using your mobile app or Anytime Banking.

Here’s how:

  • Log into 'Manage your mortgage’.
  • Scroll down to the 'Your payment' section.
  • Select 'Set up a new Direct Debit'.

Change mortgage repayment date

Late payments could impact your ability to get future borrowing, so if you think you’re likely to miss one, it might be worth reviewing your repayment date. You can change your payment date to a day that better suits you in just a few clicks via the Ulster Bank app.

Here’s how:

  • Log into 'Manage your mortgage’.
  • Scroll down to the 'Your payments' section.
  • Select ‘Change payment date’.

Mortgage cost-of-living support

The UK Government has announced support for borrowers who are struggling with their mortgage payments and we're proud to be a part of this Mortgage Charter.

If you're a residential mortgage customer, you're eligible for support. However, you will not be eligible if your current mortgage agreement is buy-to-let, interest-only or you're not up to date with your mortgage payments.

Choose a new deal

If you're on a variable rate mortgage, you can choose a new fixed rate mortgage deal. You won't need to complete new checks if you keep the same mortgage amount and repayment type.

choose a new deal by:

  • Logging into 'Manage your Mortgage'
  • Select 'View your deals'.

What other support can I get?

You may be able to get more support depending on you circumstances including:

  • Repayment of any arrears on your mortgage over an agreed time-period of up to 24 months
  • A short term deferral or reduction in your mortgage payments if your income has temporarily been reduced
  • An increase in your mortgage to include any arrears outstanding.

These options may have implications but we will discuss this when you talk to us.
